DigitalOcean is the internet’s simplest cloud platform and a cult favorite with software developers. Best known for transparent pricing and straightforward workflows (thanks primarily to easy to follow product documentation and tutorials), DigitalOcean caters to a wide audience of developers. This includes programmers and developers who have never before used cloud infrastructure, to those who do so as their primary work on a regular basis.
During my time as a design lead, I redesigned the first time user experience to better suit the needs of developers assessing and using cloud providers for the first time at the level of control suited to thier goals and skillset.
This work was the result of many longitudinal research studies with computer science students, developers, and engineering orgs to best understand how they assess and learn new tools, as well as many incremental releases suited to expanded tooling on the DigitalOcean Platform.
